This one day course will explore the two IBM Cognos offerings that are focused on empowering the business authors to develop OLAP based reports. Both Analysis Studio and Report Studio Express are designed to allow for Ad-Hoc report requests to be easily answered by individuals outside the IT department with a minimal amount of training.
Free up IT resources while preventing spreadsheet proliferation by enabling business analysts to create reports and perform detailed analysis to drive business decisions. Cognos Report Studio Express Mode and Analysis studio are self service tools that allow users to do Ad Hoc, exploratory analysis using OLAP based data models.
Based on a proven training curriculum, the Ironside Group will provide instructor-led classes that highlight the key features and capabilities of these two tools.
Course Outline
This one-day instructor-led course is best suited to the following audiences:
- Non-technical users who need to create simple financial and management reports off of OLAP
sources. - Business analysts who need to interactively explore the data to discover trends and patterns.
Students will learn to quickly create formatted management style reports with multi-dimensional data using the simplified and focused Express mode interface of Report Studio. They will then move on to performing exploratory analysis with IBM Cognos’ robust Analysis Studio.
Each topic will be highlighted with in-depth workshops, Q&A sessions and tips and techniques drawn from over 15 plus years of cross industry experience.
Observations
The curriculum is based on the most recent version of IBM Cognos Report Studio and Analysis Studio, and uses the sample data sources included in the IBM Cognos BI Samples package. For an even more enriching experience, the course content can be entirely customized to any customer’s environment, including, but not limited to the tutorials and workshops.
All our instructors are IBM Cognos certified report authors. In addition, they provide the benefit of having up to fifteen years of real-world experience.

Pre-requisites
A good comprehension of Microsoft Windows and the Office suite is mandatory.
An understanding of the standard IBM Cognos BI portal (Cognos Connection) is a benefit.
