“The Ironside Group understood our needs and was extremely flexible in providing a training solution that exceeded our expectations. We’ve had several members of the Ironside Group as trainers. They were professional, knowledgeable and had a great rapport with the classroom students. I would recommend them without question to anyone looking for a training solution.”

Our Instructors
All our instructors have practical experience implementing IBM Cognos solutions in an optimal and standardized best practices model enabling them to apply “real world” experience with in-depth industry knowledge. Each class will be delivered on-site by an instructor certified in IBM Cognos software with the technical background to provide potential solutions to existing corporate challenges.
Customized Training
In our experience, business users often derive the most benefit in relation to technical training when it is delivered in the context of their business subject area. With this in mind, we offer customized IBM Cognos BI training solutions that utilize actual client data during the workshops and demonstrations. Using this approach, students enrolled in this course not only get familiar with the tool, but also with the organizations BI related structures.
“After providing consulting expertise during our first BI implementation, we engaged the Ironside Group to provide Report Studio and Query Studio training. Due to their knowledge of our data gained during implementation, they were able to focus the standard Cognos training package on exactly what our developers and super users needed to know.”

Standard Training Offerings
IBM Cognos Query Studio
A one day class that explores the easy-to-use tool that is designed for non-technical and business users who want self-service reporting without having to understand relational database schemas and concepts.
Designed over a three day course to provide report authors with the knowledge necessary to develop, deploy and manage relational based reports. This course will empower report developers with all the tools and capabilities necessary to author professional reports in IBM Cognos Report Studio.
Further developing the topics learned in Report Studio Fundamentals, this two day course will dive into the more complex techniques available in Report Studio. Workshops will include such topics as the use of JavaScript to enhance the existing capabilities and the modification of style sheets and templates to more closely match the organization’s branding.
This one day course will explore the two IBM Cognos offerings that are focused on empowering the business authors to develop OLAP based reports. Both Analysis Studio and Report Studio Express are designed to allow for Ad-Hoc report requests to be easily answered by individuals outside the IT department with a minimal amount of training.
The focus of this three day course is to highlight the important steps to be considered during the design and implementation process metadata modeling. This knowledge is key to ensure that all future work will produce consistent and predictable results during end user analysis.
This two day course is designed for advanced Framework Manager Modelers. Topics such as SQL generation, optimizing and tuning projects, as well as more advanced topics such as leveraging parameters and macro functions will provide your IT staff with the knowledge necessary to build both flexible and optimized metadata models.
Aimed at applying the topics covered in our IBM Cognos Report Studio Fundamentals course when reporting from SAP Info Providers, this two day curriculum will explain the differences between more common relational data sources and SAP multi-dimensional data sources. The class will also focus on elements around importing SAP metadata into IBM Cognos Framework Manager.
Over the course of three days, new administrators will be taught the fundamentals of managing servers and content in IBM Cognos 8. Topics will include implementing security, deploying and managing content, schedule administration and data source management.
Over the course of 3 days, report developers, as well as Java, VB .NET and C# developers new to IBM Cognos 8 will be taught the fundamentals of extending, customizing and embedding IBM Cognos 8. Topics will include implementing security, managing content and automating IBM Cognos 8 tasks.
