Ironside Group’s IBM Cognos Training Practice – An Overview

One of the primary benefits to an organization that’s invested in IBM Cognos (or any business intelligence platform for that matter) is empowering its people to use the tools to interact with their company’s data to make smart, informed, and proactive decisions that positively impact the direction of the business. But unless a user feels confident working with the tools and the information returned, the success of the business intelligence investment will not be fully maximized. Proper training on the tools is imperative to instilling that sense of confidence and empowerment; the Ironside Group wants to be your training partner.

The Ironside Group provides comprehensive (fundamental and advanced) training on all the IBM Cognos business intelligence tools, including Report Studio, Framework Manager, Administration, Active Report, and Business Insight Advanced. In addition to our standard class offerings mentioned above, we are always developing new courses based on new product releases and market demand. For example, our newest offering is a 2-day, Multidimensional Report Authoring course. Training areas we’re eyeing for possible future development include TM1 and SPSS.

Ironside offers both public and private onsite courses. Our public courses are held in our corporate headquarters in Lexington, MA, as well as several other locations across the U.S., including Detroit, Atlanta, and Cleveland. For a complete list of all our upcoming public classes, please visit the training class schedule at www.ironsidegorup.com. We also offer private, onsite training at your location, as well as several instructor-led online courses, including IBM Cognos Active Report and our (new) Multidimensional Report authoring class.

All of our trainers are IBM Cognos certified and have in-depth knowledge of all the Cognos BI tools, as well as experience as consultants, which makes them able to teach the technology and respond to your specific, complex questions that often arise.

Our curriculum is developed to encourage self-study and can serve as a reference tool long after the class has ended. We can also customize our curriculum based on your company’s data and business analytics requirements to make training that much more practical and focused.

In addition to the printed curriculum, each trainee is issued a dedicated IBM Cognos lab environment during class to work through all of the demos and workshops. The demos and workshops are designed to allow the trainees to practice and solidify their understanding of the tools and techniques covered in the curriculum. Our lab environments are provided on training laptops or via our cloud-hosted training environment. We’re also able to use your company’s Cognos environment if you so choose.

Our mission is to provide you, our valued clients, with comprehensive and flexible training led by experienced and certified IBM Cognos trainers. Contact us today to learn more about Ironside training and let us know how we can help you get the most out of your IBM Cognos investment.
