Ironside Recognized in Wall Street Journal as AI for Analytics Consultant

AI for analytics

LEXINGTON, MA, May 3, 2019 – Ironside, an enterprise data and analytics firm, was recognized in the Wall Street Journal this morning for AI work being done at one of our clients, Coverys, a Boston-based provider of medical professional liability insurance.

Earlier this year, Ironside was engaged by Coverys to develop an AI system to identify insurance risks so they could accurately price medical malpractice insurance for doctors. They were looking for a consulting firm that could help enable them with AI infrastructure and internal processes within their organization for lasting success, and allow them to be self-sufficient.

“Ironside consulting is not in the business of being in your facility and actually implementing business analytics. They want to enable organizations to do that. That is the thing that resonated with us with Ironside.”

Amit Patel, Manager of Business Analytics at Coverys

Ironside is working side-by-side with the Analytics team at Coverys to develop the AI system so they can learn the methodology and best practices. In doing so, we are also identifying ways to leverage their existing skills and technology and identify any gaps there might be.

We partnered with DataRobot, an AI partner, to assist with the project. DataRobot offers an automated machine learning platform (AML) for data scientists of all skill levels to build and deploy accurate machine learning models in a fraction of the time.

Through our experiences, Ironside formulated a point-of-view on how data science should work in practice and how to develop use cases that generate real value. We also believe that if we seek to enable more non-data scientists to answer questions in a data science way, using statistical or machine learning methods over visual methods alone, that they and their organizations would be much smarter and mature faster in their use of data for decision making.

Ironside is now working on training the Coverys staff so they can operate the new AI on their own and will provide support when they need it.

“We’re honored to be recognized and appreciated by such an excellent partner. I’m looking forward to seeing the work unfold and supporting Amit’s team in the development of their own AI skill sets.”

– Pam Askar, Advanced Analytics Practice Director at Ironside
