Experience Design

Understanding your business and your people in order to build useful, usable, and enjoyable solutions

User Experience Design shares a lot in common with Design Thinking. e.g. understanding the users using research methods, ideation, rapid prototyping, testing with users. The differences are subtle.

Design thinking is more systems-level and deals more with “wicked problems”. It is more suited to service design scenarios. It is also more about the creative process and validating ideas before they are implemented in the real-world where implementing the wrong product or service can have dire consequences. Finally, the creative process is done in a group with multiple stakeholders present at the same time. The shared understanding happens synchronously.

UX often goes further into the details of the design, like human/computer interfaces, graphics design, interactions, and a whole lot more.

Engagement Manager, Experience Design

Over 11 years in design and user experience, my true passion has always remained the same: building creative collaboration and developing the relationships and processes required for that collaboration to be successful. Professionally at Ironside, this means I leverage my background in technology, user experience, product development, project management, and cross-functional team leadership to connect client needs and goals to practical analytics solutions that stakeholders understand and enjoy using.

This mission is why I’m leading Ironside’s Experience Design team, a group focused on going beyond metrics to get at why businesses set the analytics requirements they do and aligning those requirements to their underlying needs. We make the most of your analytics technologies by applying proven design thinking principles in a business context, getting to know you and your data, and providing visualizations, dashboards, and other deliverables tailored to the needs of each of your key stakeholders.
